“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”

– 1 John 1:7

Soul Search

  • Is there something in your life that you have kept hidden either from sheer embarrassment or not wanting it to be seen by anyone for maybe a number of reasons?

  • Why are you scared or are somehow intimidated to allow that ‘thing’ to be seen by anyone?

  • What conditions would be right to help you let those things see the light of day – and the light of God and His Word?

  • Are you afraid to allow something to be seen because there might be consequences or some kind of restitution that you will have to face?

  • Can you remember hiding something in the past that brought you great pain but that you eventually brought out of hiding?

  • Is that something you feel you can share with others to encourage them to bring those things out of hiding in their lives that are causing pain?

  • If you’re the trusted recipient of someone’s hidden pain, how much can you be trusted with that information? Why or why not?

  • Are you one who gossips through “prayer requests” and really can’t be trusted with private, sensitive information?

Soul Moves

  • As scary as it might be, can you think of just one person in your life that you can share your hidden secret(s) with?

  • Can you take the needed steps of faith to be willing to overcome your fear in order to expose those things that are painful and keep you hurting?

  • Can you ask God to help you understand what is motivating you to keep some thing(s) hidden?

  • How much of your motivation is rooted in deep-seated fears?

  • Is it possible that God wants to help you overcome your fear(s)?

  • "Ask God for the strength and courage that it takes to lower the tarp (the old man in the car accident in the dream) or to come out of the hole (the young man who ran and hid in the dream).
Ask God to make you a truly trustworthy person who can rightly handle other peoples’ hidden secrets."
