Fairness & Justice Will One Day Rule …Just Not Yet

Soul Food

“After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.” - Matthew 17:1 (NIV)

“Again, it (the kingdom of heaven) will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability.” - Matthew 25:14-30 (NIV)

Soul Search

  • Have you had a first-hand experience with injustice, inequality or unfairness? How did you handle it?

  • Have you ever felt badly because you weren’t included in what was obviously a select group of people?

  • Can you talk about what your attitude was like?

  • Looking back at that situation would you handle it differently now?

  • Can you see that you have changed over time in how you handle feelings of rejection based on inequality or unfairness?

  • What advice would you give to someone who is experiencing injustice or unfairness?

Soul Moves

  • Ask God to show you how to respond to injustice and unfairness when you encounter it.

  • Ask God to help you adjust your thoughts and attitude quickly when things aren’t right or fair.

  • Look for areas where you have influence to be able to foster an environment of fairness and justice. Pay attention to your gifts and abilities so that you can use them in positive and helpful ways to bring about fairness. Can you describe the gifts and abilities that you have that might be useful in bringing about positive change.
