Make The Journey To Wholeness With Those You Have Had Misunderstanding With

Joshua 22:30-31

Bad communication and poor communication can create conflict; where you have conflict from poor communication, do your part to communicate clearly so your broken relationships can be restored.

“When Phinehas the priest and the leaders of the community—the heads of the clans of the Israelites—heard what Reuben, Gad and Manasseh had to say, they were pleased. And Phinehas son of Eleazar, the priest, said to Reuben, Gad and Manasseh, “Today we know that the Lord is with us, because you have not been unfaithful to the Lord in this matter. Now you have rescued the Israelites from the Lord’s hand.”

- Joshua 22:30-31 (NIV)

Soul Search

  • Who have you had a misunderstanding with either in the distant past or more recently?
    Who comes to mind?

  • What was the cause of the misunderstanding?
If the misunderstanding was awhile ago, has new information come to light that can help to ease any tensions?
Does that new information need to be shared?

  • What part did you play in causing the misunderstanding?
Did you do something(s) that fanned the flames of tension and emotion?
    Can you talk about this?

  • Can you do something to try to bring health and healing to the relationship that has suffered from the misunderstanding?
What are some things you might be able to do to be an agent of healing?

Soul Moves

  • Make a list of the people who you have had a misunderstanding with. It might be one person or it could be several.

  • As you thoughtfully and prayerfully consider each person on your list, ask God to show you what you can do to bring health and healing to that relationship.
Listen for God’s voice through the Holy Spirit to counsel you and instruct you on what you can do.
As ideas come to your mind consider that those ideas are coming from God and that He is talking to you.
If the ideas that are coming, and the actions you are considering, are demonstrative of healthy and good behavior as shown in the Bible, then you can be sure that it’s God speaking to you.
