Resist Getting Off the Train at the Wrong Station - Commit to Riding it Out All the Way to the End

Exodus 14:13-14

God has travel plans for all of us; we must resist the temptation to get off at the wrong station

Soul Food

“Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

– Exodus 14:13,14 (NIV)

Soul Search

  • Do you have an idea or a sense about the things that God wants you to do?
A sense about where He is leading you?
These ‘things’ might be about family, jobs/career, relationships, pastimes, volunteering, etc.

  • Can you share something about the sense of leading or calling you have?

  • Is there anything that is trying to challenge or disrupt where you believe you’re supposed to go and that is challenging or disrupting what you believe you’re supposed to do?

  • Where is the temptation to abandon God’s leading and calling coming from?
Is the voice of temptation coming from someone you’re really close to?
    How are you handling it?

  • Have you ever stopped a journey prematurely and ‘gotten off the train’ before you should have?
    What happened?
    Why did you get off?

  • Is it possible that you’re supposed to get back on the train and continue the journey toward fulfilling God’s leading and calling on your life?

Soul Moves

  • Reflect on what you believe are or were God’s calling and leading in your life.

  • If you abandoned the journey God had you on, consider getting back on track.
If you never even started on the journey, consider getting on track and begin the journey.

  • Ask God to confirm for you the path He wants you on.
Ask God to confirm it through the people who are closest to you and who know you well.
Make sure you’re listening to the voices of those who can cheer you on and want you to succeed on your journey.
Do not give place to the voices – even if you consider yourself close to them – who want to hold you back or keep you from God’s intended destination for you.
