Do You Need To Be Rescued? Cry Out & God Will Save You

Isaiah 53:6; Hosea 5:4; John 8:3-11

We all get into trouble when we chase worldly things and leave God behind. He's right there to receive us when we turn around.

Soul Food

Isaiah 53:6

“We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way….”

Hosea 5:4

“Their deeds do not permit them to return to their God. A spirit of prostitution is in their heart; they do not acknowledge the Lord.”

John 8:3-11

The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, ‘Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?’ They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, ‘Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.’ Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, ‘Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?’

‘No one, sir,’ she said.

‘Then neither do I condemn you,’ Jesus declared. ‘Go now and leave your life of sin.’”

Soul Search

  • Have you made a relationship with God through Jesus Christ a priority in your life?
If so, when did you make that decision?
    If not, why not?

  • Have other “gods” or other things grabbed your attention to the point that you haven’t had time or motivation to make God a priority in your life?

  • What things or people (or both) have stolen your affections and attention so that they are where your attention and allegiance are?
Are those things and/or people worth all your time and devotion?

  • If you were to stand before God, and He were to talk to you about your life and your priorities, what do you think He would ask you to surrender or give up in exchange for a relationship with Him?

Soul Moves

  • Make the decision to put God, and His Son Jesus, first and foremost in your life.
Ask God through the Holy Spirit of Jesus to come into your life as your Savior and Lord.

  • Ask God to teach you where real life originates and to teach you where counterfeits to real life exist.

  • If you have pursued any of the false “gods” or counterfeits to real life, ask God to show you how you’ve done that and to help you give those things up.

  • Where there is sin in your life and things that you know don’t please God, confess those things to the Lord and ask Him to forgive you for making them a priority that have higher importance than He does.
