Absolute Moral Truth is Under Attack; Protect It & Live By It At All Costs

Matthew 7:15; Matthew 15:7-9; Acts 20:30

Be careful with what you listen to and 'take in' - you might be buying into lies and decpetion. Measure everything against the moral Truths in the Bible.

Soul Food

Matthew 7:15

“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.”

Matthew 15:7-9

“You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’”

Acts 20:29,30

“I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.”

Soul Search

  • What news feeds or podcasts do you connect to and listen to?
    Why?

  • Do you believe the voices you hear are disseminating reliable information in terms of objective truth?
Do you have any doubts about the authenticity and truthfulness of the information you are taking ‘on board?’

  • Do you have any ideas for how you can keep yourself safe and protected from untruthful, deceptive information?
    What ideas do you have?

  • What things about a person (whose voice you listen to) make you more likely to believe what they are saying?
Does the Bible play any role at all in helping you determine who to listen to?
    If so, how and why?

Soul Moves

  • If you’re a news or podcast junkie, would there be any wisdom in limiting the amount of time you spend filling your mind and soul with what is being communicated?
Why might you limit the amount of time you spend listening?

  • Get to know the Truths in the Bible and compare what you’re hearing with biblical Truths.

  • Be prepared to tune out the voices you’ve been listening to if what you’re hearing or being told doesn’t align with what you’re reading in the Bible.

  • The Bible says in John 16:13 that the Holy Spirit will “guide you into all the truth.”
Ask the Holy Spirit, coupled with the Bible, to be your filter to what is true and not true.
