“When God Keeps Doors Closed There Are Reasons, So Don't Hurt Yourself Trying to Break Them Down”

Acts 16:6-7

Don't try to break down closed doors. The doors that God wants you to go through will swing open easily at just the right time.

Soul Food

“Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.”

– Acts 16:6,7

Soul Search

  • Metaphorically speaking, have you tried to go places and everywhere you turned trying to find a door that would open, you found those doors closed?
Can you tell about such an experience?

  • When you find that doors you are trying to walk through are closed or that the direction you are trying to go isn’t working out for you, how do you respond?
Do you get frustrated or angry?

  • Have you ever gotten upset and blamed God for keeping the doors shut?
Have you blamed the devil for keeping the doors shut?

  • Can you believe it’s possible that God did keep the doors shut but that He shouldn’t be ‘blamed’ for it?
Is it possible that He has hidden blessings in not allowing you to go through some doors?

  • Is it possible that your blame on the devil for closed doors is misplaced because God actually wanted those doors to be closed to you?

Soul Moves

  • When you go places in life and doors you attempt to go through are closed to you, take a deep breath and make a decision to push frustration and anger down and to trust and believe that they are being kept closed with a plan and a purpose from God behind the closure(s).

  • Continually get in your head and in your heart the perspective and attitude that closed doors can be from God in order to direct you into the fulness of His plans and purposes.

  • Remember, when you find that you can’t go where you were planning to, that God is likely re-directing your path so that you cross paths with someone who needs to have an encounter with the Lord through you.

  • Ask God in prayer to give you grace, patience and understanding when doors you want to walk through are closed.

  • Allow your behavior and demeanor – when faced with closed doors – to be so Christ-like that people will take notice and desire to know why you have such peace when you reach what many people would otherwise think is a ‘dead end.’
