Thank God For The Situations That Bring Us To Our Knees – God Answers ‘Knee-mail’

Psalm 33:13-20

Thank God for problems you don't have answers to; being forced to your knees to trust God is a great thing.

Soul Food

“From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth—he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength.  A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save. But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.”

– Psalm 33:13-20 (NIV)

Soul Search

  • What is your attitude and what emotions emerge when you face daunting and challenging situations?
Do you immediately get upset and even angry?
    Do you become afraid?

  • Do these thoughts and feelings cause you sleepless nights?

  • Are you able to keep negative emotions in check and instead take on an attitude of ‘Well, God, here is another situation whereby You get to demonstrate your love, care and power in my life?”

  • Can you talk about any situations you currently face where if God doesn’t come through you don’t see any hope?

Soul Moves

  • Put your trust in God by entering into a relationship with Him through His son Jesus Christ. Invite Jesus to come into your life.
Acknowledge your sins, mistakes and failures.
The biblical word for ‘sin’ means ‘missing the mark’ – in this case it means missing God’s mark for how you should live your life and the choices you should make that line up with the instructions given in the holy scriptures – the Bible.

  • If you already know God through Jesus, confess to Him and maybe to someone you confide in, how difficult and seemingly impossible situations make you feel.
Describe the thoughts and feelings that come over you and ask God to talk to you and show you why you have these thoughts and feelings.
Ask God why it is difficult for you to trust Him and to trust that He wants to be involved in the difficult situations in your life.
