Listen to Gossip & It Might Ruin Your Appointment With a Miracle

Proverbs 6:19 & 16:28

Gossip that includes falsehoods about people can steal away relationships that might otherwise bring you health and life.

Soul Food

There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him:…..(the last one written is)….. a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.

- Proverbs 6:19 (NIV)

A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends.

- Proverbs 16:28 (NIV)

Soul Search

  • Can you think of a time when you listened to gossip, took it to heart, and misjudged someone only to later find out what you had been told was not true?

  • Have you allowed yourself to participate in gossip about someone and discovered that what you had been saying and thinking was wrong?
What lesson(s) can you take away from that?

  • In looking at yourself honestly, are you one who can be prone to stirring up conflict?
What does the scripture say about that?
Do you speak negatively about people to others?

  • What does God think about people who spread lies about other people?
Does what God thinks have any influence on your behavior?
    Why or why not?

Soul Moves

  • Be aware that in the spirit world, there are forces that seek to divide people and stir up conflict.
Ask God to help you understand and discern those forces so that you don’t unknowingly partner with them to produce conflict and destruction.

  • Do business with God if you have been party to gossip.
Ask His forgiveness and ask Him to help you control your mouth.
Pray and ask God if you’re to go and ask forgiveness from anyone that you may have hurt through your words.

  • Spiritual forces that seek your harm and destruction don’t want you to encounter Christ followers that can bring blessing and healing to your life.
Don’t be swayed by gossip about someone else.
God knows that the person you are hearing discouraging and negative words about might just hold the keys to your healing.
