Let God Dull Your Sensitivity So You Can Stay At The Table

Ephesians 4:2  & I Corinthians 13:5

Ask God to numb and soothe you where you're hyper-sensitive; dead people don't feel any pain.

Soul Food

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”
– Eph. 4:2 (NIV)

“It (love) is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”
– I Corinthians 13:5 (NIV)

Soul Search

  • When you are hurt by someone, is it difficult to let it go?
If it is difficult to let it go, why do you think that is?

  • Have you ever excused yourself from a situation or from a group of people because you were hurt by something someone said or did?
Looking back, is there another way you might have handled it?

  • Can you recall a time when you were hurt but you were able to let it go?
What caused you to be able to let it go?

Soul Moves

  • Ask God to prepare you for the next time you get hurt by someone’s words or actions.
It can be difficult to prepare for things you don’t see coming but God can prepare you.

  • It is said that “dead men and women feel no pain.”
Ask God to deaden your emotional responses and reflexes when something hurtful comes your way.
Ask Him to help you not respond too quickly in the moment.

  • Practice believing the best – not the worst – when people say or do things to offend or hurt you.
