Will You Accept the Invitation to God's Party?

Luke 14:16-24 Study Guide.

Soul Food

“Jesus replied: “A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’

But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’

“Another said, ‘I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’

Still another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’

The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’” - Luke 14:16-24 NIV

Soul Search

Does God have the kind of priority in your life that you will put other things aside in order to spend time with Him in the Bible and in prayer?

How would you describe your relationship with Christ? Is it intimate and close or is it more casual and somewhat distant? What would cause you to say it’s casual? What would cause you to say it’s intimate?

Do you learn about God and Jesus by going to church? Do you attend church regularly or every-so-often? Do you learn the Bible through the messages the pastor or priest preaches or do you read the Bible for yourself? Do you read the Bible very often?

Do you feel that you need God? If so, how? Is it possible you need Him more than maybe you’ll admit?

If you spend time with God regularly or consistently then there’s a good chance you will hear the call to His banquet when He tells you, “Dinner is ready!”

Soul Moves

Decide what you need to do for your relationship with God to become more intimate than it is casual.

Go to church physically and meet people and begin building relationships. Move past the post-COVID isolation and connect with people again.
