Take In The Good News & Turn Off The Bad

Ecclesiastes 1:18

Don't drown yourself in bad news; keep afloat by pumping yourself full of the good news in God's Word

Soul Food

“For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief.”

– Ecclesiastes 1:18 (NIV)

Soul Search

  • How many minutes or hours do you spend on average per day listening to or reading the news?

  • Do you see any benefits to reducing the amount of time you spend taking in the day’s news? Why or why not?

  • Do you have the mind-set that you want to be ‘informed’ so that you can intelligently discuss what is going on in the world?
Why is that important to you?
Should it be as important as you think it is?

Soul Moves

  • We all know – or we say that we know - time is valuable.
Are there better ways you can spend the time that you normally take watching or reading the news to do something else?

  • Use some of the time you take from the negative news to do positive things for your family:

  • Have a devotional time reading a Bible passage with your family

  • Pray either alone or with one or more family members

  • Help your children with their homework or a school project

  • Help your spouse in the kitchen or in the yard

  • Do something nice for a neighbor
