“The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.”

  • Do you know one or two people who died at a relatively young age?
    If so, can you share the thoughts you had or still have about their passing?

  • If you have known someone (or if you think about someone you love dying at a young(er) age, did you bring God into the processing of your loss?
    What thoughts do you have about God when it comes to people dying?

  • If you have negative thoughts about God and what you believe He could have done to prevent someone you love from dying, do you know why you have those thoughts?
    Do these Bible verses in Isaiah 57 cause you to maybe think differently about God and about death?

  • Do you have positive thoughts about God when it comes to people you love dying and if so, why?

  • The Bible has a lot to say about death and dying.
    Do a Google search using the words, “Bible verses about death and dying.”
    Read some verses to learn more about what the Bible says about death and dying.

  • If you have lived with anger or bitterness – especially toward God – over someone’s death, ask God to show you His perspective on death and dying through the Bible – and ask Him to help you get rid of your anger and bitterness.

  • When you know God and have a relationship with Him through Jesus, His Son, you learn that death is the doorway to becoming fully alive to the eternal part of you.
    Ask God in prayer to help you grow in this understanding.

  • The biggest struggle in death and dying is when we believe it’s absolute and final.
    When we understand that it’s a step or a passage into real, eternal life, and that our relationship with the deceased is not gone forever when we know Jesus, but will eventually be restored, the sting of death goes away.
