Obedience to God Accomplishes His Purposes In You

Genesis 6:22

God can ask us to do difficult things; He seeks out those who will be obedient no matter what is asked of them

Soul Food

Genesis 6:22 (NIV)

“Noah did everything just as God commanded him.”

Soul Search

  • Can you remember a time when God was asking you to do something and you found it difficult to do? Is that happening right now?
Can you talk about that thing that was difficult to do?

  • Are you being asked by God to do something(s) and your obedience is being tested?
Can you talk about what you’re struggling to do in light of you believing God has asked you to do it?

  • Would you say that any resistance in you to obediently do what you believe God is asking you to do has something to do with some things being in control of you rather than you being in control of those things?

  • Are you someone who can and will be obedient to God – no matter what He asks – even if you don’t have complete understanding on why He’s asking you to do a certain thing? Can you respond obediently without asking for “signs” and without getting answers to all your questions before you take action?

Soul Moves

  • If you struggle to know how and when God is speaking to you, ask Him to help you hear His voice. It starts by reading and familiarizing yourself with the Bible – God’s Word to us.

  • Often our struggles with obedience tell us a lot about where we have weak spots in our faith and in our character.
Ask God – as you look at where you’re struggling to be obedient – to show you the weak spots He is wanting to strengthen.

  • What is controlling you?
    Who is controlling you?
Who or what is getting in the way of you practicing unhindered obedience to God?

  • Practice ‘blind’ obedience to God.
That requires a courageous faith to be able to act before you have all the answers/insights you’d like.
Believe God to work a ‘courageous faith’ in you.
