Best to Follow the House Rules

Hosea 8:11-14

Soul Food

“Though Ephraim built many altars for sin offerings, these have become altars for sinning. I wrote for them the many things of my law, but they regarded them as something foreign. Though they offer sacrifices as gifts to me, and though they eat the meat, the Lord is not pleased with them.
Now he will remember their wickedness and punish their sins:
They will return to Egypt. Israel has forgotten their Maker and built palaces; Judah has fortified many towns. But I will send fire on their cities that will consume their fortresses.” - Hosea 8:11-14

Soul Search

  • What ‘rules’ do you live by and what or who determines the moral decisions you make on a daily, on-going basis?

  • Where did those rules come from and why do you live by them?

  • Do you ever break the rules you live by? If you do, are there any consequences and if so, what are they?

  • If there aren’t any consequences, why not?

  • Have you ever consciously made a determination for how God’s ‘house rules’ as described in the Bible will influence your life?

  • Even if you don’t consider yourself a ‘religious’ person or a follower of Christ, do Bible teachings have a place in your life?

Soul Moves

Consider the possibility that God’s house rules as outlined in the Bible might be your greatest recipe for success in this life.

Move into God’s house – become part of His family by entering into a relationship with His Son Jesus Christ. When you do it will be important that you understand and live by His rules.

Begin reading the Bible to find out how God wants you to live. God doesn’t unnecessarily throw cold water on your party but He does protect you from things that will otherwise seek to harm you. He wants you to enjoy life and celebrate safely and wisely.
