A proactive Father turns bad situations around

Soul Food

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” - Psalm 46:1 (NIV)

“If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him…..peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” - John 14:23,27 (NIV)

Soul Search

  • Can you recall a time in your life when another person jumped in and interceded on your behalf to turn an otherwise bad situation around?

  • Can you recall a time when you needed someone (especially one of your parents?) to get involved in a situation in your life but they failed to do so?

  • How does that make you feel to this day?

  • Is this something you have invited God into so that He can bring you healing and peace?

  • Has the lack of involvement by a loved one or a friend in a situation that impacted you directly affected your relationship with God?

  • When that person or those people did not come through did you feel that God had abandoned you and had not come through for you?

  • Can you separate human behavior from God behavior or do you believe they are directly linked?

Soul Moves

Is there someone in your life who you can intercede for to make a difference for in an otherwise bad situation?
Is it possible that your involvement is the key to healing and wholeness for someone who without your involvement might continue to suffer?

Ask God to help you understand the difference between human behavior and decisions and God’s behavior and decisions.
Ask God to help you to differentiate between human failure and God’s active work.

A human tendency is to blame God for things that go wrong “because if He’s all-powerful and all-knowing then He wouldn’t have allowed this or that to happen.” As long as we live in a fallen, sinful world, things will go wrong and God doesn’t always intervene to make everything go right.
Things will only go completely right one day when we are abiding in heaven with Him. Until then, we must exercise faith to trust Him in this life and on this planet called earth because things do go wrong and will go wrong in the here and now.
